LDC Freshers

The first freshers’ event on campus was conducted by the English Literary and Debating Club on Thursday, August 23, 2018. At least 60 teams, consisting of more than a whopping 200 freshers participated in the first round. It included a treasure hunt with poetic clues and tasks to be completed at each location. Successive rounds included writing and speaking tasks, which tested the creativity and spontaneity of the participants. Mr. Shubham Das of Mechanical Engineering emerged as the victor.

MEA Guest Lecture

On August 28th, Mechanical Engineering Association hosted a guest lecture on “Impact of Mechanical Design” by Mr. Srinivas Bairy, Design Engineer at Stryker. Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, importance of proper dimensioning, importance of tolerancing used in the design industry, precision of tools and its types, etc. were topics discussed in the lecture. The event saw an active participation from both UG and PG students.

CEA Inaugural

CEA inaugural was held on 28th of August 2018, with the Chief Guest being Mr. Y. Padmaveer from Orient Cement Limited. The Action Plan for the academic year 2018-19 along with the theme of CEA were released by the General Secretary, Ms. Hamsika Kali. The event saw participation from a hundred students and faculty members.

CEA Workshop

Civil Engineering Association in collaboration with ITC (International Technical Championship) has conducted a tall building workshop on STAAD PRO on 1st and 2nd of September. It saw participation from second and third year B. Tech students, and also from the M. Tech students. We hope that events like these shall enhance the skills of students and gives them a competitive edge in the long run.

Team Mechaholics wins laurels

Team Mechaholics continued to make NITW proud by participating in FMAE Quad Bike Design Challenge. They won the best cost presentation and achieved AIRs of 6 and 10 in acceleration and overall category respectively. We congratulate them on their success and wish them all the best for the future.

NITW at BAJA 2018

Team Spardhak participated in FMAE BAJA 2018 Competition held in Hyderabad on 5th August and secured an overall 7th rank. They secured AIR 3rd rank in sales presentation and missed the first position by just 0.4 marks.

“Every competition, whether you win or lose, gives you an opportunity to learn something from people with a similar passion to build their own buggy,” they added.

Cache 1.0

On 22nd August, the Newsletter and Magazine Committee held a treasure hunt event. They stuck QR codes across various locations on campus and the students had the task of scanning them and solving the questions that followed. One clue led to another and the first person to get through them all would win Rs.1000. During Cache, the NMC website recorded 1400+ hits within a span of 3 days. Mr. Amartya Sen was declared as the winner.

ChEA Freshers

The Chemical Engineering Association’s freshers event, ‘Chemorphous’ was conducted on 28th of August, 2018. The event had four rounds, 1. Quiz round, 2. Wild card round, 3. Skit round, 4. Interview.

The interview round decided the winners of Mr. and Miss chemical titles. The rounds tested the wit, creativity and out of the box thinking skills of the participants.

SpringSpree Certificate Distribution

The Quality Control and Management department of Springspree’18 isn’t resting even months later after the completion of the fest. Certificates were distributed by the QCM team members this week, to all Subcores and Event Managers who were a part of the organizing team.

Freshers Sports Competition

The Fresher’s Sports Competition held on the 28th and the 29th of August, was inaugurated by the Dean (Faculty Welfare), Professor DVSS Siva Sharma. The competition had a great turnout in all four of the games. The games being: Volleyball, Tennis, Ball Badminton and Kabaddi. The students who performed well, will be considered for the Institute team of the respective sport.

Student Council Re-elections

On August 28, re-election for the post of Secretary for Hostels and Mess was conducted keeping in mind the inconvenience that had occurred during the General Elections. The discrepancy was solved when Mr. Sameer Ahmed was finally elected for the post. Voting had also taken place for the PG Technical Secretary position, where Mr. Narendra Kumar Kapa was declared as the winner.
